Following the devastating eruption of Volcano Fuego in 2018, the Homes from the Heart team in El Salvador felt called to visit Guatemala and find out how they could help.

Six months ago, Angela Marius’s husband died, leaving her a 37 year-old widower of two children. She and her 11 and one year old were living in a dirt house that was susceptible to rain.

As many donors are aware, Homes from the Heart recently spent time in Guatemala following the eruption of Volcano Fuego and the devastating damage it caused. After meeting with local organizations to discuss their needs and how we could be of assistance, many of you donated money for boots, supplies, and roofing equipment.

Our team has been busy building a medical clinic in Haiti, but have still managed to continue building homes. The latest homeowner is Guerda Telus.

Marie Nicole Cajou and her two children are the new residents of Homes from the Heart's 110th home in Haiti.

Prior to the earthquake, Magdalene Desir lived with her mother, husband, and two daughters. She tragically lost her mother and husband to the earthquake.

Natacha St. Loi, 49, lost her husband, one daughter, and home in the 2010 earthquake.

Hermose Saintilus lost her daughter last year.

Christine Lafortune, 49, is a farmer with three children and two grandchildren. This tent has served as their home since the earthquake.

Carline's family has been on Homes from the Heart's list for over a year. Unfortunately, her mother passed away in February.

Thank you once again for supporting the work we do and allowing us to complete our next home. It is hard to believe we are already wrapping up home 102 and are moving right along with the next home.

Oftentimes, our homes can give all families, but especially women, the sense of security and financial means to move forward with their goals instead of remaining in a seemingly endless pattern of struggling.
