Rick Dye on his way to visit the indigenous Nabusimake tribe in Colombia.
“All in for Christ, family, communities, and selfless service to humanity worldwide.” In his own words, that was how Rick summed up his life, and he certainly lived it. Richard A. “Rick” Dye was a board member of Homes from the Heart for two years, until his recent passing on May 29th at the age of 52.
After attending school at Lake Highland Preparatory School and the University of Florida, he began his professional career at Bel-Aire Homes where he worked closely with his father. He rose to the position of President before deciding to devote himself to RAD Missions International, an organization he founded in April of 2009. Rick worked throughout the world with RAD, building homes and orphanages, planting churches, and developing communities in Haiti, Africa, and Central America.
He first connected with Homes from the Heart when he was in Haiti after the 2010 earthquake. There, he met our director, Michael Bonderer, and once they got to know each other, Rick's passion and shared vision were evident. He was an enthusiastic supporter of our mission from that point on. He was also actively involved in his own community and truly had a heart to serve the less fortunate. He was the father of six children, loved by many people around the world, and will be deeply missed by all who knew him.
If you wish to make a donation in memoriam, please include "In memory of Rick Dye" in the memo or notes section of your check or online gift. Donations will be used to continue building homes in the communities he loved and served with us.
