Make a Difference Day
“Make A Difference Day is the most encompassing national day of helping others — a celebration of neighbors helping neighbors. Everyone can participate. Created by USA WEEKEND Magazine, Make A Difference Day is an annual event that takes place on the fourth Saturday of every October. Millions have participated. In 2008, 3 million people cared enough about their communities to volunteer on that day, accomplishing thousands of projects in hundreds of towns.”
Crowley is a diverse worldwide marine transportation and logistics services company that has been making a difference in El Salvador for years. This year, Fuller Center El Salvador has been chosen by Crowley as a partner in their Make A Difference Day efforts. Crowley has had a long term relationship with Casa de mi Padre, an orphanage in El Salvador. Crowley has chosen to help sponsor and build a house in the Fuller Center community for a needy family within the Casa de mi Padre program.
About 95 Crowley employees, Casa employees, and Casa kids joined together for one day to make a BIG difference. The large group came in waves of people throughout the day, each with a new burst of energy to get the job done. The group helped to pour the walls for a family’s house and worked on the foundation for another house. The Crowley management team did a wonderful job organizing the large volume of volunteers for this successful day. This event is the beginning of great relationships between Crowley, Casa de mi Padre, and the Fuller Center in El Salvador.
